Marina Shafir On Signing With AEW, Her NXT Exit

During her appearance on The Sessions with Renee Paquette, Marina Shafir spoke about officially signing with AEW and why her NXT run ultimately didn’t work out. You can check out the highlights below. (via 411 Mania)

On why she decided to sign with AEW: “Before I got signed with AEW, I was doing indie shows here and there, but then the schedule just got crazy. I got signed and I was like, oh fuck, I’m spending no time with my family, and I just decided not to do anything else. I took a couple here and there, but for me, pro wrestling is special, and you can do it however the fuck you want to do it. That’s what people say. There isn’t just one fucking way up the mountain. There’s multiple. So for me, I need to approach whatever matches that are in my future, I want time to prepare. I want time to understand what I need to bring to the table. I like that pressure.”

On how her start at NXT set a bad tone for her: “I felt like I never got a proper introduction. Like, the photos when you got signed to NXT with Triple H, where he’s shaking the hand, I never got that photo. And that just sat with me. I wanted that fucking photo. That meant a lot to me. But we had to kind of play it cool, and I was like ‘Fuck that, I want that photo.’ I thought that shit was going on for me, that I was going to have that chance. I just wanted to have a good match, get back there, and be like ‘I’m getting this fucking photo.’ And I never got it, and it’s fine, but that didn’t sit well with me. And then I realized I underestimated myself. I’m my own worst enemy when it comes to that shit. Maybe that’s what needed to happen, and I needed to go away and I needed to mold myself.”
